Abstract

An electrophoretic display has at least one pixel () which comprises electrophoretic material (), a first electrode () and a second electrode (). An addressing circuit () addresses the at least one pixel () by applying between the first electrode () and the second electrode (): (i) a drive pulse (Vdr) with a level in accordance with an optical state to be reached by the at least one pixel (), and (ii) a series of shaking pulses (SP) which have an energy content depending on an optical state of the at least one pixel ().
