Abstract

An emulsion comprising (a) more than about 40% by weight, based on the total weight of the lipid phase of the emulsion, of one or more polar and/or moderately polar lipids which exhibit an interfacial tension towards water of less than about 30 mN/m and (b) one or more 1,2-alkanediols having about 4 to about 8 carbon atoms and exhibiting a Ig pof from about −1 to about +3.
