Abstract

A package () includes a plurality of articles (B) that are disposed on their sides in a matrix arrangement that includes a plurality of rows (R, R, R) and columns (C, C, C, C). A lower row (R) of articles (B) defines a dispensing position (P) for each column (C, C, C, C) and upper rows (R, R) of articles (B) define descending positions (P, P) for each column (C, C, C, C). A carton () encloses the articles (B) and includes a detachable portion () that can be detached along a severance line () to expose the articles in the dispensing positions (P). Inserts () are provided to facilitate dispensing the articles, to control the rate of descent of articles moving from the descending positions (P, P) toward the dispensing positions (P), and/or to provide insulation between the articles as they move toward the dispensing positions (P).
