Abstract
A hydraulic tensioning system () for an endless drive () of an internal combustion engine (). In an operating mode, the piston () of the tensioning system (), which is supplied with a hydraulic fluid, is supported against a tensioning rail () with a non-positive fit, with the rail pre-tensioning the traction drive element (). If the hydraulic fluid in the tensioning system () is not sufficient, the tensioning rail () is supported on an elastic end stop () of the system ().
