Abstract

A medical breathing assistance apparatus () for supplying pressurised gases to a patient is disclosed. The breathing assistance apparatus () comprises a heating chamber () and a pressure chamber () both adapted to contain water, and at least one pressure adjusting means (). The pressure chamber () is connected to the heating chamber () and the pressure adjusting means () is located between the heating chamber () and a gases supplying means () supplying gas to both the pressure chamber () and heating chamber (). The pressure adjusting means () is adapted to convert pressurised gases from the gases supply means () to two different pressures, one to each of the heating chamber () and the pressure chamber (), so that water flows from said pressure chamber () to the heating chamber ().
