Abstract
An absorbent articlehas front, crotchand rearportions. The article has an absorbent coreof unitary construction and of uniform density, which is defined by a pair of opposing longitudinal edgesand a pair of opposing transverse edges. The absorbent corehas at least a firstand a secondregion, the average thickness of the absorbent corein these first and second regionsbeing lower than the average thickness of the absorbent coresurrounding the first and second regions, the first and second lower thickness regionsbeing arranged symmetrically about the longitudinal center line A of the article such that each of the first and second lower thickness regionsextends to the respective longitudinal edgeof the absorbent core. The distance abetween the first and second lower thickness regionsin the transverse direction varying along the longitudinal direction of the article. A minimum distance abetween the first and second lower thickness regionsin the transverse direction is located at least in the transitionbetween the crotch portionand the front portion. The article provides good, secure fit and high comfort to the wearer.
