Abstract

An illumination device is provided that has a superior decorative effect achieving a favorable dramatic effect and atmosphere. Sub-panels () having the same shape as a main panel () are mounted pivotally to each side of the rectangular main panel () via hinges (). Surface-emitting parts () formed of organic EL elements are mounted on the main panel () and each of the sub-panels (). By changing a set angle between the main panel () and each of the sub-panels () and by independently controlling the lighting of each surface-emitting part (to), a favorable dramatic effect and atmosphere can be created.
