Abstract

The present invention provides an image processing apparatus which can promptly detect whether or not a jam has been removed in the case of occurrence of the jam such as a paper jam. A paper feeding apparatusincludes a paper feed tray, a pickup roller, a paper roller, a sorting roller, feeding rollers, resist rollers, a paper ejection roller, a passage detection sensor, an overlapped feeding detection sensorand a second detection apparatus. An image processing apparatusincludes a position detection portionfor detecting a location of a jam which occurs during feeding of recording paper, a determination portionfor determining a jam state based on a detection result of the position detection sensor, an examination portionfor examining whether the jam has been resolved and a resuming portionfor resuming the processing when an examination of the jam location by the examination portionis finished. If the position detection sensordetects the occurrence of the jam (S), the determination portion determines the jam state and simultaneously provides notification of the occurrence of the jam (S). If clearing work is finished (S), the examination portionfeeds a test sheet (S). It is detected whether or not the test sheet passes through the jam location (S), and the processing is resumed if it is detected within predetermined time (S).
