An aircraft brake rotor includes a circular rotor disk () having first and second walls () and a peripheral wall () connecting the first and second walls (), the peripheral wall () including at least one notch () having a bottom wall () and first and second side walls () extending away from the bottom wall (), an insert () having a first portion () mounted against the first side wall () and a retainer () connected to the rotor disk () and having at least one projection (), a portion of the at least one insert () extending between the at least projection () and the first side wall (), thus limiting movement of the insert () in a direction perpendicular to the first side wall ().
