Abstract

An object is to provide an information recording and playback apparatus that is capable of reducing, as much as possible, reading and writing errors caused by magnetic leakage flux on the inner peripheral side of a magnetic disk. An information recording and playback apparatusincludes a rotor R rotatably holding a magnetic diskand being provided with a permanent magneton the outer peripheral surface; a stator corefixed to a base member, the stator coreprotruding to the inner side in the radial direction in such a manner as to oppose the permanent magnet, the stator coreincluding a plurality of stator polesaround which coilsare wound; a shield platedisposed between the magnetic diskand the stator corein such a manner as to cover the stator coreand to have a small gapbetween the rotating body R, the shielding plateblocking magnetic flux from the permanent magnetand the stator core; and a magnetic headfor carrying out recording and playback of the magnetic diskby moving forward and backward between the shield plateand the magnetic disk. The magnetic headmoves forward and backward on the stator poles
