Abstract

A method for detecting the viability ofeggs by simulating in vitro a passage of the eggs through the gastrointestinal passage of a swine with regard to chronological sequence and medium. The method involves subjecting the eggs in vitro first to gastric simulation in gastric medium and then to intestinal simulation in intestinal medium in decreasing enzyme and salt concentrations and thereby inducing the larvae to shed from the eggs. The shedding of larvae from the eggs indicates that the eggs are viable.
