Abstract

Disclosed is an internal combustion engine component () which is made of an aluminum alloy and comprises at least one area () that is subjected to a great thermal load during operation of the internal combustion engine. Said area () that is subjected to a great thermal load is small compared to the entire component () and is provided with an alloy composition which is modified in relation to the entire component () in such a way that the area () that is subjected to a great thermal load has a greater breaking elongation than the entire component ().
