Abstract
A method and apparatus for providing adaptive bearer configuration for MBMS delivery is disclosed. A first aspect of the present disclosure is a method of operating a wireless infrastructure entity () wherein a plurality of common radio resources () are allocated for receiving combined responses from a plurality of mobile stations (). A request message, similar to a request for counting, is broadcast to all mobile stations () within a coverage area () and may indicate a range, for example a signal-to-noise-and-interference ratio range. Mobile stations () responding to the request, use specific resources () corresponding to respective range values. The infrastructure () may use the received information to determine a modulation and coding scheme for PTM broadcast. The total number of responses to the request message may be limited by providing a probability factor within the request message.
