Abstract

The present invention provides a method for enhancing epidermal permeability barrier function of the aged skin, which includes the step of externally administering to the aged skin an amount of a fumaric acid diester derivative expressed by the following general formula (1) as an active ingredient wherein Rrepresents a Calkylene group; Rand Reach represents a linear or branched Calkyl group; and n is an integer of 2 to 5.
