Abstract
An automatic pointing device mapping method () and associated apparatus for automatically remapping the active area () of a graphics tablet () to a plurality of displays (), such as might be used in conjunction with a graphics program (), a CAD program, or the like. Proximity zones () are established along the edge of the active area (). When a stylus () is moved into one of the proximity zones (), the graphics tablet () is switched to control the display () in the corresponding direction, provided such a display () exists in that direction. In one embodiment data regarding an elapsed time data (), which is the time the stylus () has remained in the proximity zone () is monitored, such that the multi-display system () is not remapped until the stylus () has remained in the proximity zone () until a preset time () has elapsed.
