Abstract

The present invention relates to a CVD-coated cutting tool insert with a TiCNlayer with a low tensile stress level of from about 50 to about 390 MPa and an α-AlOlayer with a high surface smoothness with a mean Ra is equal to or less than about 0.12 μm as measured by AFM-technique. This is obtained by subjecting the coating to an intensive wet blasting operation.
