Abstract

A control apparatus used in an image forming apparatus has a CPU board () and a relay board having I/Fs (-) and a CPU (). The I/Fs are connectable with driver boards (-), and have common standards. The CPU detects each connection state of the driver boards to the I/Fs, decides an ID for the relay board according to the connection state, and performs consistency control to secure consistency of control between the driver boards, based on the ID for the relay board. The CPU board is communicatably connected to the relay board. The CPU board obtains the ID for the relay board, and performs control according to the ID for the relay board.
