Abstract
An image forming apparatus is capable of controlling an exposure in accordance with sensitivity variations of a photosensitive body. An actual exposure position (P) sometimes precedes an exposure position (P) recognized based on the count value (C). In this case, the correction value (D) of the exposure position (P) recognized based on the count value (C) is calculated by linear interpolation using reference correction values (D−D) corresponding to the position until the home position (HP) of a photosensitive drum is detected. When the home position (HP) is detected, the correction value (D(P)) of an exposure position (P) recognized after detecting the home position (HP) is so calculated as to make the difference between the correction value of the exposure position and that of a previous exposure position (P) fall within a preset range (α).
