Abstract
A solid electrolytic capacitorincludes a capacitor elementand a resin packageenclosing the capacitor element. The capacitor element includes a sintered bodyof valve metal powder, an anodeprovided by embedding an anode wirein the sintered body, and a cathodeprovided by forming a metal layer on the sintered body. A first lead memberin the form of a plate is connected to the anode wire. The end of the first lead member projects from a side surfaceof the resin packageto provide an anode terminal T. A second lead memberin the form of a plate is connected to the cathode. The end of the second lead member projects from a side surfaceof the resin packageto provide a cathode terminal T. By extending the first and the second lead membersandgenerally horizontally at the substantially same height from the lower end of the resin package and making the portions projecting from the resin packageserve as the anode terminal Tand the cathode terminal T, the lead length between the anodeof the capacitor elementand the anode terminal Tand the lead length between the cathodeand the cathode terminal Tis made as short as possible, whereby ESL is reduced.
