The use of 2,4—bis(alkylamino)pyrimidines of formula (1) Ris C-Calkyl or C-Claryl; Ris hydrogen or C-Calkyl; or Rand Rtogether form a radical of formula (1) R' and R″ are each independently of the other hydrogen, C-Calkyl or C-Calkoxy, Rand Rare each independently of the other hydrogen or C-Calkyl; Ris C-Calkyl, unsubstituted phenyl, C-Caryl, C-Caryl-C-Calkyl, hydroxy-C-Calkyl, di-C-Calkylamino-C-Calkyl, mono-C-Calkylamino-C-Calkyl, —(CH)2-(O—(CH))—OH or —(CH)—(O—(CH))—NH; Ris C-Calkyl, C-Caryl, C-Caryl-C-Calkyl, hydroxy-C-Calkyl, di-CCalkylamino-C-Calkyl, mono- C-Calkylamino-C-Calkyl, —(CH)—(O—(CH))—OH or —(CH)—(O—(CH))—NH; or Rand Rand/or Rand R, together form a pyrrolidine, piperidine, hexamethyleneimine or morpholine ring; in the antimicrobial treatment of surfaces.
