Abstract

A semi-transmissive liquid crystal display devicehaving a first substrate which is partitioned by signal linesand scanning linesprovided in a matrix pattern in which a reflective partand a transmissive partare formed on respective positions, a second substrate which is formed with a color filter and a common electrode, and a liquid crystal layer which is provided in between said two substrates, wherein a pixel electrodewhich is provided on said reflective partand said transmissive partis formed so as to overlap with said signal linesand said scanning linesvia an insulating layer when viewed from the upper side, a width Lof the signal linecorresponding to said transmissive partis greater than a width Lof said signal linecorresponding to said reflective part, and an overlapping width Lof said pixel electrodeand said signal linecorresponding to said transmissive partis greater than an overlapping width Lof the pixel electrodeand said signal linecorresponding to said reflective part. As a result, it will be possible to provide a semi-transmissive liquid crystal display device having good contrast without any negative effects on display quality such as cross-talk or the like can be provided.
