Abstract

A disc device includes the following: a traverse basethat can be moved between a recording/reproducing position and a standby position, on which an optical pickupand a turntableare mounted; a front coverincluding a disc carrying surfacethat carries a discand an aperturethat is formed in the disc carrying surfaceand allows the turntableto pass through when the traverse baseis moved between the recording/reproducing position and the standby position; and centering membersfor holding and shifting the discto a position where the center of the discis aligned with the center of the turntable. The loading of a disc can be performed in an easy and highly flexible manner.
