Abstract

A duct was configured such that an incident side and an outgoing side of each of liquid crystal panels, andare formed with discharge ports rand r, gand g, and band bto discharge the air from fanstothrough ductsto, and at the same time, a PBSfor aligning the polarizing direction of the light from a light source lamp is formed with a discharge port pto discharge the air from the fanthrough the duct, and an incident side discharge port band an outgoing side discharge port bof the liquid crystal panelcorresponding to the blue light are formed with the ducts so as to discharge the air from the fansandwhich are different from each other. As a result, even when an amount of light per unit area of high luminance is increased, the liquid crystal panels and the polarizing plates and the PBS can be effectively cooled by three sets of the fans.
