Abstract
A peritoneal function testing method of using a ratio MTAC/MTACcalculated using MTACand MTACas an index for a peritoneal function test. MTACis an overall mass transfer-area coefficient for urea nitrogen and MTACis an overall mass transfer-area coefficient for creatinine. Use of the MTAC/MTACratio enables examination of the future peritoneal function of a patient (a mechanism of deterioration in peritoneal function). MTACand MTACare obtained using a Pyle-Popovich model. The peritoneal function testing method further calculates a permeability coefficient for cell pores (LS) and an overall permeability coefficient (LS) from a Three-Pore Theory model to obtain a ratio LS/LS calculated using the LSand the LS, and further uses the LS/LS ratio and the MTAC/MTACratio as indexes for the peritoneal function test.
