Abstract

A BD-ROM playback apparatus simultaneously executes playback of a title and execution of an application. The BD-ROM playback apparatus includes a playback control engine () for playing an AVClip belonging to one title, and a module manager () controlling branching between a plurality of titles, and a BD-J module () for executing at least one application. The BD-J module () includes a Java virtual machine () and an application manager (). The application manager () interprets that the title execution is complete and performs a termination process [1] when no application is run or [2] when the main application has terminated. After execution of the termination process, the module manager () selects the next title such as a top menu title.
