Abstract

A network loop monitor () is disclosed which comprises an RS485 port () for connection to a host which receives and transmits data. The port () comprises termination jumpers (), a transmitter/receiver () and an isolator (). The monitor () includes two further RS485 ports () each of which has a termination (), a transmitter/receiver () and an isolator (). A relay () controls contacts () in the line pair (). Router logic () controlled by a microprocessor () determines the status of the loop monitor.
