Abstract
In a friction drive actuatoraccording to the invention, a rotorand a statorare held in contact at a plurality of positions by a plurality of vibrators, and at least one of the vibratorsvibrates to rotate the rotorrelative to the stator. Accordingly, the rotoris supported without using a bearing and, hence, the rotorcan be more easily elastically deformed as compared with the case where the rotorand the statorare held in contact over the entire circumference. Therefore, a frictional force between the statorand the rotor can be stabilized.
