Abstract
A light emitting device includes a light emitting element having an emission peak wavelength of 350 nm-420 nm and a phosphor absorbing light from this light emitting element and emitting fluorescence having a different emission peak wavelength. The phosphor is formed of a semiconductor material that allows the emission peak wavelength to be controlled by transition across the bandgap, and is configured with four or more fluorescences having different emission peak wavelengths. Thus, it is possible to provide a light emitting device which has a relatively simple structure to keep high theoretical efficiency limit and achieves good general color rendering index (Ra) and special color rendering index (R).
