Abstract

A lidthat closes the upper surface of the opening of a closed-bottom prismatic tubular battery can, an electrode bodyaccommodated in the battery can, a negative terminalpenetratively fastened to the lid, an insulating plateplaced on the lower surface side of the lid, a lead plateplaced on the lower surface side of the insulating plate, and a negative electrode current collector leadled upwardly of the electrode bodyare included. The upper end portion of the current collector leadis welded to the lower surface of the lead plateand bent in a position located rather closer to the front wall of the battery can. The insulating platehas a lid side insulating portionheld between the lidand the lead plateand a front sidewallthat extends downwardly from the front end side of the lid side insulating portion. In a free state before the battery is assembled, the lid side insulating portionand the sidewallof the insulating plateextend roughly straightly.
