Abstract
A switchable finger lever () of a valve train of an internal combustion engine is provided, including an outer lever () and an inner lever () that extends between the arms thereof. One end of the outer lever () is provided with a contact area () for a head of a resting element on the bottom side () thereof. A smooth-faced longitudinal recess () for a coupling means () extends above the contact area (). Some sections of the coupling means () can be engaged with the driving area () located on a face () of the inner lever () when the levers () are coupled. The coupling means () is provided as a circular cylinder which is freely rotatable in the longitudinal recess () that is provided as a bore. The driving area () is provided on the inner lever () so as to be complementary to the outer envelope () of the coupling means (). Durability in the coupling zone is improved as a result of the fact that the coupling means () is freely rotatable.
