Abstract
An impact resistant door including a frame () presenting an inner wall () and defining a pane slot () and a flap slot () and a groove () along each side of the pane slot (). The door includes a pane of laminated glass () having an inside sheet of glass () and an outside sheet of glass () sandwiched together and having oppositely facing outside surfaces () to define a pane width (W) therebetween. An interlayer () is adhesively sandwiched between the sheets of glass and presents an edge flap () extending along the periphery of the pane of laminated glass (). The pane width (W) is disposed in the pane slot () and the edge flap () is disposed in the flap slot () of the frame (). A plurality of inserts () engage the outside surfaces () of the glass, and each insert () includes a projection () extending into the groove () of the frame () along the adjacent outside surface () of glass.
