Abstract
A hopper coin feeder () comprises upper and lower hopper discs (). A flexible hopper wall () of diabolo shape cooperates with the upper disc () to control the feeding of coins by a coin pushing member () to the outer margin of the disc () where they are gripped between an annular band () and the disc () to be conveyed past a coin discriminator (). Any coins or debris that drop from the edge of upper disc () are caught on the lower disc () and pass to a reject chute () and coin payout cup (). An active coin delivery chute and diverter (), FIG., comprises a reciprocable plate () having a finger () which controls whether a coin fed from the upper disc () passes down the chute or is rejected onto the lower disc (). Coins that pass down the chute enter a bowl () of a double-disc coin conveying assembly () that conveys a coin from the bowl () to a LIFO coin stacks () of a coin storage unit (). Oversize coins that enter the chute can be directed through the bowl (), and through aligned apertures () in the coin conveying discs, to pass into a coin outlet () also leading to the payout cup ().
