Abstract

The invention provides a process for producing a metallocene compound of formula (3) wherein Rto Rindependently denote a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl, or the like;Rdenotes a halogen atom, an alkyl, an alkoxy, or the like; Xand Xindependently denote a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, or the like; and M denotes a transition metal atom of Group 4 of the Periodic Table, which process is characterized by reacting a silicon-substituted cyclopentadiene compound of formula (1) wherein Rto Rindependently denote the same as described above; Rdenotes a hydrocarbon group or a tri-substituted silyl; and Rto Rindependently denote a halogen atom or a hydrocarbon group, with a transition metal compound of the following formula (2) wherein M denotes the same as described above;X, X, X, and Xindependently denotes a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl, or the like, in a solvent containing an aromatic hydrocarbon.
