Abstract

A POF () comprises a core () having a radius of R, an outer shell () and an outermost shell (). The core () includes concentric layers. A first layer () is at the periphery side and an nth layer () is at the center of the core (). The refractive index increases from the first layer () to the nth layer (). The refractive index N(r) at a position where a distance r apart in a radius direction from the center of the core () having a radius of Ris satisfied following equations (1) and (2) when the center of a cross-sectional circle of the core () has the refractive index of N, the outermost part of the core () has the refractive index of N, and a refractive index distribution coefficient is shown as g:()=1[1−2Δ(1)]  [Equation (1)]Δ=(12)/(21).  [Equation (2)]
