Optical recording device capable of recording file management data into another area of an optical disc

Abstract

Before erasure of data, an optical head () reads file management data which manages user data from a file management data area 'A' of an optical disk (). A control unit () drives an optical head () to write the information into a specific area on the optical disc () to save the file management data. After saving the file management data, the optical head () records the data for erasing the file management data into the file management data area 'A'. According to a signal from the data erasure instruction cancel key or button (), after erasure of the file management data, the optical head () reads out the saved file management data from the specific area of the optical disc (), and rewrite the file management data into the file management data area “A”. Thus, even after data erasure of data, the user can use the data again before erasure by using the saved file management data.
