Abstract
A systemand method(s)for thermal treatment of a selected target within a subject is disclosed. Systemincludes RF source, phase shifter, impedance matching networkand resonator. Applicatorconveys output signalfrom energy sourcethrough surfaceof biological tissueto predetermined energy dissipation zoneafter outputhas been processed by the phase shifter, IMNand resonator. Stationary water molecules, such as those in fat cells, are heated. Systemis operative to heat a volume of biological tissue beneath the biological tissue surfacesuch that surface 6 of biological tissueis maintained at a lower temperature than predetermined energy dissipation zonewithout a cooling device. The invention is useful in selective heating of cellulite bodies as a means of treating cellulite.
