A prophylactic systemfor a dental hand pieceof a selected shape and having an outletfor providing a fluid to an operating field is disclosed. A coverhas a shape substantially similar to the hand piecefor enclosing the dental hand pieceand includes an aperturefor communicating with the operating field. An s-shaped valveincludes a pathfor coupling the fluid from outletof the hand pieceto the apertureof the cover.
