Abstract

A measuring device having a sensor () with a signal cable () and a connector () at the cable end for transmitting a sensor signal. The measuring device further includes a data memory () storing sensor-specific calibration data, and an evaluation unit () with a port () for connecting the signal cable (). The sensor signal is evaluated in the evaluation unit () using the calibration data. In the invention, the memory () is enclosed in a memory housing () that is separate from the evaluation unit () and is inseparably fixed to at least one of the signal cable () and the connector () at the cable end. The memory () provides calibration data to the evaluation unit () via a transmission channel (), separate from the signal cable (), for transmitting the calibration data to the evaluation unit ().
