Abstract
A positive electrode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery including a manganese oxide having a spinel structure, wherein the manganese oxide is represented by the general formula: LiMnMO, where M is a transition metal element having an oxidation number of 2 or greater, M≠Mn, 0.17≦x≦0.5, −0.2≦y≦0.5 and 0≦a≦0.2.
