Abstract

The invention has an object to provide a connectorwhich achieves a reduced overall height of the order of 1.0 mm and space-saving substrate (in the inserting direction of a circuit board) and which obtains stable connection with a slight operating force and does not cause any defective connection even if a connecting object is accidentally subjected to an external force. The object is accomplished by a connector comprising substantially H-shaped contactseach including a first piecehaving a contact portionand a pressure receiving portion, a second piecehaving a contact portionand a connection portion, and a jointing portionconnecting these first and second pieces, and further including holding device permitting pushing portionsof a pivoting memberto pivotally move between the pressure receiving portionsand the connection portions, a housinghaving a ceiling portionformed at least at both ends with protection wallsfor preventing the ceiling portionfrom being upwardly deformed when the connecting object is accidentally forced upwardly, and the pivoting memberincluding the pushing portions, anchoring holesindependently from one another and an actuating portionwhich is pivotally moved toward a fitting openingof the housingto bring the contact portionsof the contactsinto contact with the connecting object.
