Abstract
A validating machineaccording to the present invention is provided with a validation sensorhaving a first-side light emitting deviceand a first-side light receiving devicedisposed closely to each other and a validation sensor' having a second-side light emitting device′ and a second-side light receiving device′ disposed closely to each other so that the validation sensorand the validation sensor′ are disposed opposite to each other on a first side and on a second side of a bill. The first-side light emitting deviceand the second-side light emitting device′ are controlled so as to emit light at their respective emission timings different from each other. The validating machineperforms composite detection to make the first-side light receiving devicedetect first-side reflected light Laemitted from the first-side light emitting deviceand reflected on the first side of the billand to make the second-side light receiving device′ detect transmitted light Latransmitted by the billand second-side reflected light Lb emitted from the second-side light emitting device′ and reflected on the second side of the bill, so as to validate compositions of the both sides of the bill
