Abstract
A propulsion systemfor a waterborne vesselhaving a hull structuretypically for a full or semi planing boat. The propulsion systemhas a pod housinghaving a front endand a rear end, a propellerand a propeller shaft. The propelleris disposed externally at the front endof the podand is rotatable about a longitudinal axisof the propeller shaft, the propeller shaftbeing drivingly connected to a drive assembly. The drive assembly has a transmission unitand a power unitin the form of a diesel engine. In FIG.the diesel engine is shown disconnected from the transmission unit. The power unitis disposed within the structure of the hulland, in this particular embodiment; the transmission unitis disposed substantially outside the structure of the hull. The hullis formed with a portthrough which an interface unitextends. The interface unitprovides structures for transmitting the torque of the power unitto the transmission unit
