Abstract

A method of producing a spirocyclic acetal compound of formula (II), having subjecting a compound of formula (I) and pentaerythritol to dehydration condensation, in the presence of a solid acid catalyst; and the polymer having a repeating unit represented by formula (III), which is produced using the spirocyclic acetal compound of formula (II): wherein Rrepresents an alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl group, Q represents a hydrogen atom or an acyl group, L represents a divalent linking group having at least one carbon atom, and n is 0 or 1.
