Abstract
In the present technique of data transmission management provided, a composite status indicator value is assessed () based on multiple channel quality indicator reports over a predefined time. The assessed composite status indicator value is compared () to a first threshold value. If the assessed composite status indicator value does not correspond in at least a predetermined way to the first threshold value, the mobile station is classified () in a high speed data region. Otherwise, the assessed composite status indicator value is further compared () to a second threshold, and if it corresponds in at least a predetermined way to the second threshold, the mobile station is classified () in the low speed data region.
