Abstract

A disposable absorbent article with a backsheet and a first topsheet, is capable of being at least partially in contact with the wearer's skin when in use. The first topsheet being a fibrous three-dimensional web, having bonded regions where the fibers are bonded to another, and unbonded regions, where the fibers are unbonded to one another. The fibers extend from at least one unbonded region into at least two bonded regions, typically in the form of loops. The bonded regions form the support structure for the unbonded regions, and the surface area of the unbonded regions is at least 2 mm. The topsheet has a thickness (caliper) of between 0.1 and 5 mm.
