Abstract

The present invention is directed to a process for preparing intermediates that are useful to prepare certain antibacterial N-formyl hydroxylamine compounds which are peptide deformylase inhibitors. The process makes use α β-lactarn intermediate. Certain optically pure intermediates are also claimed.
