Abstract

An exhaust gas purifying catalyst which exhibits sufficient efficiency during low temperature operation (below 400° C.) such as starting of a vehicle or idling operation can be provided by improving activation of a noble metal itself and preventing reduction of activation at high temperatures. In the catalyst, Pd is supported on a complex oxide having the ratio formula of LnXAlZO(Ln: rare earth element, X: alkali earth metal, Z: 2 to 5 group or 12 to 14 group element, 0.02≦a≦0.30, 0.02≦b≦0.30).
