Abstract

The invention relates to monoazo colorants derived from pyrazolobenzodiazinedioxides of Formula 1: wherein Rand Rare hydrogen or any non-metallic group, n is 0-4, Ris hydrogen, acyl, aryl, alkenyl, alkynyl or alkyl, A represents an aromatic heterocyclic ring or an aromatic group of Formula 2: wherein Rand Rare hydrogen, alkyl, sulfonic acid, or 1-4 carbon alkoxy, Ris any non-metallic group, m is 0-3, and Rand R, Rand R, or, when m>1, two Rgroups can be joined to form a fused carbocyclic or heterocyclic aromatic or non-aromatic ring. The invention also relates to an aqueous ink that comprises at least one colorant of Formula 1: wherein A represents an aromatic or heteroaromatic ring, and A can be bonded to other rings that can be aromatic, aliphatic or heterocyclic, and an ink printing method using the colorant-containing ink.
