Laundry detergents comprising a fabric softening effective amount of an alkoxypropylamine of structures (I) or (II)R—O—(CH)—NHR  (I)R—O—(CH)—NR(CH)X  (II)wherein Ris a Calkyl group, Ris hydrogen or (CH)NH, Ris CHor CHCHOH and Xis an anion, or of a salt of a compound of structure (I), provide simultaneous cleaning and softening of fabrics without the need for an additional fabric softener.
