Compounds of formula (I) are CD80 inhibitors, and of value for immunomodulation, e.g. in rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, asthma, transplantation, systemic lupus erythematosis and psoriasis: wherein Y is —CH—, —CHCH—, or CHCHCH—; Rrepresents H; F; methyl, trifuoromethyl, methoxy or triflioromethoxy; Rrepresents H; F; CI; Br; NO; CN; CCalkyl optionally substituted by F or Cl; or C-Calkoxy optionally substituted by F; Rrepresents a carboxylic acid group (—COOH) or an ester thereof, or —C(═O) NRR—NRC(═O)R, NRC(═O)OR, NHC(═O) or NHC(═S)NRRwherein Rand Rare as defined in the specification and X represents a bond or a divalent radical as defined in the specification.
